How do you turn a corporate employee into the best party entertainer, three years running? Magic! And that’s exactly how Mont Dutson, aka Mont Magic, started entertaining audiences of all ages.
It all started in high school, 38 years ago. Mont Dutson's friend showed him a few magic tricks. He started playing around and learning more tricks and before he knew it, people were asking him to do magic shows for their parties. Since doing his first few shows, he has continued to improve his magic by attending conventions, workshops, and reading lots of magic books. “I am always striving to improve what I do,” says Dutson. “It has resulted in some of my original magic tricks being published in major books, and even provided as routine ideas in nationally sold magic items. Along the way I have written two magic books, and produced an instructional magic DVD for elementary school children.” This focus on continually improving his magic could be one of the reasons why he has won “Best Party Entertainer” in Utah Family’s Family Favorites three years running.
Booking a party is simple. You choose the silver or gold package, both of which include various magic tricks (some with a live bunny named Beethoven the Baffling Bunny), a postcard addressed to the birthday child a few days prior to the party, a poster for Mont Magic and other party guests to autograph, an official magician’s assistant certificate, a magic coin with the child’s picture on the face, and a thank-you package just for the birthday child a few days after the party. “All parties are part of this magical experience before, during and after approach,” explains Dutson, “the postcard before, the poster, coin and show during the party, and the thank-you package afterwards, all combine to make the party a great childhood memory for the entire family.”
With the gold package, you also get goodie bags for each child, with many tricks and puzzles to take home, an autographed copy of one of Dutson's children’s magic books for the birthday child along with a beginner’s magic set. The show will also include the “Floating Child” illusion where the birthday child is selected to magically float in space. This is a trick just for the birthday child and a great photo opportunity.
Duston works any time, although not on Sunday, and will even travel to nearby states if necessary. He will come to your home or where ever you are holding the party. He also performs at school assemblies and has specific shows that fit with the schools’ programs. He performs for young and old alike and has even been praised for being able to entertain teenagers, the nearly impossible group to entertain.
“My party services are planned to exceed the needs and wishes of parents and organizations,” says Dutson. “I offer the different party packages to allow parents to do a lot of the party preparation activities themselves, or just sit back and let me do it all, relieving stress and headaches. In doing so, I attempt to make my services a real magical experience before, during and after the party. I am not just the guy doing a few magic tricks.”
So if you want to have the best entertainer at your party, it’s not impossible. It’s “Magic!”
